How it Works
FSFC operates by appointment only. It is each parent’s individual responsibility to contact FSFC to set up an intake session. To get started, schedule an appointment by calling 505-994-4931. At the appointment, one of our staff members will review with you the details of arranging visits or exchanges
FSFC operates 7 days a week and appointments are available M-F 3:00 to 7:00, Sat and Sun 8:00 to 6:00 by arrangement; unscheduled visits or exchanges are not available. Supervised visits are available for up to two hours duration.
There is a per-visit sliding scale fee based on income. The cost is usually split 50/50 between the parties unless otherwise directed by the court, or as determined through mutual consent. Fees are due at the time of the visit or exchange, cash, check, or money order. Credit cards are not taken at this time.
When allegations of physical, sexual, or substance abuse occur, the court or legal guardian may request supervised visitation between the parties in question. Supervised visitation provides parents and children a safe, caring environment to maintain and build bonds. Structure and rules of conduct are applied to the visit to ensure the safety and well-being of all parties involved. Our facility has games, toys, playrooms, and a movie room to help facilitate healthy interaction.
When parties are exchanging children, it is sometimes necessary to have a neutral facilitator facilitate. Supervised exchanges allow parties who may have restraining orders, or other restrictions in place, to continue to exchange the children in a safe and healthy manner. Typically the facilitator will escort the child to the receiving parent who is waiting in a separate area. This allows for a brief period of adjustment as the children move between parents. If and when the parties are ready, the transition to open exchanges will occur with the goal of supporting parties in completing unsupervised exchanges.
